July Monthly Meeting

Our July monthly meeting is on Wednesday 17th July from 6.30 to 8.30pm in the Upper Vestry Hall of St George's Bloomsbury.

This month we're having an Alhambra tile craft session with Helena. Following on from the wonderful 'Dome and Stars' installation at the British Museum, which she worked on with community students, we're going to do something equally creative, if a little less ambitious!

We’ll learn about the history of Alhambra geometric tiles, see lots of pictures, and then have a go at creating designs with coloured post it notes.

As ever, please bring some refreshments to share, and do email us at londonwestendwi@gmail.com if it's your first time so we know to look out for you!

June Review of the Month

At Craft Club in early June we made felt succulents to adorn our homes - even the least green-fingered amongst us can't kill these...

At our main meeting we were delighted to welcome Millie Race from the Crick Institute, who not only told us about her family ties with the WI, important women in science and all about her own cell research, but kept us entertained with a simple microscope and some microscopic worms!

Coming up in July we have sinimay flower making at Craft Club on 2 July, Queen's Square Fair on 6 July, Islamic tile inspired papercrafting at our main meeting on 17 July, and our inaugral summer picnic in St James' Park on 27 July!
