Next Meeting: 19 January: Bikes and Bloomers

For our first meeting of 2022, on 19th January we will be joined by Kat Jungnickel (@katjungnickel) of Goldsmiths College. Kat wrote the book Bikes and Bloomers based on her research project about the costume challenges Victorian women faced when they wanted to go cycling, and how they adapted their clothes for this purpose.

She is giving us an illustrated talk on this theme, and will also have some clothes to try as well.  Hopefully she will also have copies of her book available to buy on the night.

We're very much looking forward to this talk, which was originally scheduled for early 2020. You can find out more about Kat and the Bikes and Bloomers project on her website, here.

As ever, we will meet in the Upper Vestry Hall of St George's Bloomsbury. The room has good ventilation with large windows which open, and plenty of room to space out.

The meeting starts at 6.30pm with socialising and nibbles (do bring something along to share, it doesn't have to be homemade!), then some news items and the talk itself will begin just after 7pm for about an hour. All members, potential members and visitors welcome. If you haven't been before, do email us on londonwestendwi@gmail.com so we know to look out for you.
